Canvas Information...

So what's the big deal with Canvas prints...? Well they are a simple, effective and stunningly beautiful way of displaying your favourite digital photographs.

Canvas photo prints are a wonderful addition to your home, taking pride of place on any wall. What better way to show off your kids, loved ones, pets or any digital photo than a huge 5 foot printed canvas! Photo canvases make fantastic gifts for friends and relatives. Almost any digital photo can be printed on canvas, even non digital ones (we scan from negatives, slides or prints). Why not order one now!

Below is some more information about our canvases and the materials and process of making them.

The Process

We take your digital photo, crop and adjust it to fit the size of canvas you have ordered, then apply any special effects you have chosen, such as black and white or sepia tone. We then run your photo through special RIP software to get the best colour match for the photo and digitally print it using our high performance 60" HP Designjet printers. Once the print has dried we stretch it over our handmade frames (see below) and secure it with staples. The corners are carefully folded and stapled then a protective covering is applied. That's it, your canvas is ready to go!

The Canvas

We typically use 260 gsm Ultra White Poly Canvas for our prints. This material is highly resistant to tearing during stretching, is water resistant and has no edge cracking! Other canvas materials are available should you need it. Please email us a request.

The Inks

We use innovative UV inks which deliver long-lasting, lightfast prints with an expected indoor fade resistance of up to 200 years. These inks keep your canvases looking beautiful no matter how much sunlight they are exposed to.

The Frames

Each frame is hand made from Kiln dried Fir to a moisture content of 8% or less. They have finger joints to avoid warping or twisting, have rounded edges to hold the canvas away from the frame and are 38mm deep for a great gallery style wrap of the image.

The Edges

All of our canvases have gallery wrapped edges, this means the image continues around the edge of the frame to give them a professional and exciting look. Careful folds are made at the bottom and top edges of the frame to create a flat wrap effect and hide excess material. NOTE: For a gallery wrap, a 2" border is used around the edge of your photo. This is usually the photo itself; just remember that the finished image will have 2" at each edge wrapped around the frame, creating the gallery effect.

Shipping

All of our canvases are bubble wrapped, the edges are double protected then the whole canvas is sealed and packaged in cardboard, ready for shipping. Each shipment is delivered by courier and fully insured against damage.
